Faux Metal Ceiling Tiles

If you are lucky enough to own your home, you may be interested in these beautiful embossed faux metal ceiling tiles for a inexpensive yet bold transformation.  They are made from a type of Styrofoam called Polystyrene or PVC.  They aren't soft like Styrofoam but more like a hard plastic.  They are very easy to install and it wouldn't take very many to cover the ceiling of a small room if you want to do a low budget, high impact makeover.   They come in many different colors.. and you can even buy them white (which usually costs less) and paint them yourself.  You can purchase them in-store at places like Lowe's and Home Depot or you could get them online at several places. They are not really all that expensive considering how easy they are to install and the huge impact they can make.  Here are some photos:

More painted glass bottles!

I'm still trying to figure out the proper way to do things on a blog. When I'm looking at all these fabulous blogs out there I keep seeing where it says create a link by the comments section, I think what it means is it is creating a link to the post in a new blog post from me.. I am giving this a try.. we will see what happens. Ok, created link. Now:

Can't help but share this...because of my obsession with painted glass jars and vases. I ran across some more pretty glass bottle vases. These were made from wine bottles I think. See them at this cute little blog here:

Inspiration and Ideas- Decorating with Photos

canvas photos @ tales from the crib

Decorating with photos really makes your interior feel like a home. I absolutely love pictures.. and always have. I remember the first camera I ever had. It was one of those 110 cameras and when I got it I was so excited you would have thought I had stuck gold.  Aww.. memories...

For inspiration, I've gathered some really nice home decor ideas using photos. You can never go wrong with using photos to decorate your home.

Up first is this beautiful wall collection of canvas photos I found at tales from the crib and she was even nice enough to share the tutorial with us!  To look at it, you wouldn't think this was a thrifty project but indeed it is :0)

photo wall @ Felt So Cute

Felt So Cute posted this beautiful photo wall! I love this group of pictures.. it really looks great. There is even a great tip shared on how to plan the placement of the photos.  You can find photo frames at thrift stores, clearance sections of your favorite stores, Wal-Mart has pretty cheap frames and don't forget garage sales and flea markets.  Really you could just hang any pictures you want in whatever frame and it would still look nice but if you want to go all one color of frames, spray paint will do the trick. The black frames with black and white photos above look amazing!

Here is something a little different.  Do you have a wall that you can't decided what to do with? The photo above is a block poster that was printed at Block Posters.com.  You can make any size picture into any size poster... It takes the photo and turns it into printable PDF file of multiple parts of the image- all you do is print and put the image together on your wall. You can do it with borderless photos which looks like one big photo or you can do it like the photo above with the borders which looks more like a mosaic.  The best part about it is that it is completely free. Costs you nothing but printer ink which can be expensive but.. I still love this idea and can't wait to try it myself.

I hope you have enjoyed today's inspiration and ideas.. Have fun decorating!

Thrift Store Makeovers plus some free printables!

pretty vases @ Starshine Chic
I ran across Starshine Chic today and saw these beautiful vases among some other pretty things. They started out as just plain clear vases purchased for dirt cheap from a thrift store...but look at them now!  They remind me of those pretty antique vases.. or some of those high dollar expensive ones.  Go see... she even shares the tutorial :)

pretty candle tray @ The Hand Me Down House

This pretty tray started out as a dingy old tray from a thrift store (Goodwill, I think) So pretty with the sea shells scattered around the candles.  This would make a great group of candles for the bathroom.  LOVE it :) To see more, go to The Hand Me Down House

@ It Works For Bobbi!

I also ran across these super cute frames with free printables included at It Works For Bobbi! and I just had to share.... this beautiful frames started out as a thrift store find and look at the finished product!  It is absolutely amazing.  Go see how she made them and grab the free printable so you can make your own :)

Faux Metal Wall Decor Made from Empty Toilet Paper Tubes

@ Crescent and Lavender

Can you believe that the piece above is made from empty toilet paper rolls? I can not tell you how impressed I am! It really looks like a heavy piece of wrought iron.  These new spray paints are awesome to be able to make something like paper look like stone or a heavy metal.  Would you like to see more like this with tutorials?

DIY Rattan Ball Decor

I found these pretty rattan ball lights on Ebay.  Wouldn't these look so pretty in a little girl's room or as decorative patio lights?  They inspired me to make some for my little boys room at night so I did but added some big blue-green glitter on them which turned out to be a big mistake as the glitter was falling off everywhere... besides that glitter wasn't a good choice for a boy's bedroom.

I wanted to share my end product:

They actually would have been great if I had left the glitter off and just left them natural.  They would have been perfect displayed in a nice bowl.   I am going to make some more of these and I will be sure to post the tutorial with photos when I am finished.

Tips for Repurposing Christmas Decor

photo belongs to cincooldesigns via Flickr

Now that the holidays are over and everything to do with Christmas is priced dirt cheap, this is the time you can really get some bargains that will be put to good use for many years to come.  Christmas comes in every color now so you can use this decor for other  holidays as well.  For example, some of the beautiful ornaments on the gorgeous pink tree above could double as Valentine's Day decor.  I found this really useful post at Thriftyfun on how to make the most out of your Christmas decor.

Decorating with Glass Jars

bean jar @ Lookie What I did
I love using jars for home decor and crafts.. and I happened upon this really cute layered colored bean design in an apothecary type jar today.  Talk about a budget craft! The beans were colored  black and orange just for Halloween decor. Isn't that clever!  You really could do this for any holiday or just display a nice colorful layer of all kinds of beans for all year around.  To see a really cute blog and how she colored the beans go to   Lookie What I did.
