Invisible Disc Plate Hangers Tutorial - Great for Hanging Plates

Have you heard of the Invisible Adhesive Disc Plate Hanger? I have also seen them called Disc Plate Hangers, Invisible Plate Hanger, etc...   They are a made to stick on the back of plate for hanging on the wall.  Plate groupings on walls are very popular lately, I've been seeing them everywhere!    Here is what the Invisible plate hanger or adhesive disc hanger looks like:

Invisible Adhesive Disc Plate Hanger

What is so great about these hangers is they hang the plate without showing hardware like the metal old school plate hangers. The only thing I didn't like about them was the price so that's why I came up with my own version of adhesive disk hangers with some things I had around the house.

Invisible Plate Hanger Tutorial

What You Need -
E6000 glue, a sturdy piece of fabric cut in a triangle, wire, sandpaper or a tool that sands and rubbing alcohol

I first made the metal loop by taking a piece of wire and looping it twice around a pen and then twisted the ends together.

I then determined on the back of the plate where I wanted the loop and right below that I sanded a rough area... with the stone plates, I used a grinding bit on a Dremel.

I then wiped the roughened area with some rubbing alcohol.

Then I put about a nickel sized glob of E6000 on the sanded area and stuck the metal loop ends into the glue while laying the loop on the plate in the position I wanted it.

Then I stuck the fabric triangle, right below the loop covering the glue and the bottom half of the wire.  I then gently pressed the triangle down and tried to smooth the glue out evenly under it.

I sat it aside and let it dry for 24 hours.... and it worked like a charm!

Wall Decor Ideas - Mirror Walls

Many people display collections on their walls.  Some of these are framed photos, crosses, plates, artwork and the list goes on and on.   A wall collection can change a room that is drab into one that is dramatic and beautiful-especially a mirror collection.  The best thing about mirrors is you can find them very inexpensive at places like Goodwill, local thrift stores, garage sales, resale shops, flea markets etc. You can find all shapes and sizes and if you keep your eye out for them, you can have a stunning collection for your wall in no time.  Have a look at some of these beautiful mirror walls....

mirror wall @ My Romantic Home
What I love about this collection is that the mirrors are all framed in white and that there are different sizes and shapes. This is a truly beautiful collection with all of the different type mirrors, especially the ornate and very detailed frames.. love them!  I found this one at My Romantic Home. There's even more photos at the link.

mirror wall @ Alkemie
These mirrors are gorgeous.. I love ones that are hung by chains!  It looks like mainly hanging mirrors and a few regular ones and only one with a frame and it's a green stained glass frame.. so beautiful!  This one I found at Alkemie. Be sure to check out all the other stuff at the link too!

mirror collection @ Cupcakes and Cashmere

I like how this one is neatly grouped into a rectangle... the different shades of browns in the frames all go very well together and I like the variety of different shapes of the mirrors and designs of the frames.  They look great on the colored wall, too!  This pretty wall I found at Cupcakes and Cashmere.

Hope you have enjoyed seeing all the mirrors! I am currently working on my own mirror collection. Maybe I'll be able to post a photo soon :0)

DIY Vinyl Wall Quotes and Wall Art

Vinyl wall quotes and wall art can be expensive so I figured out how to make some of my own with just contact paper.  I was looking at Ebay the other day and saw that you can get vinyl fairly inexpensive now according where you get it from.  It doesn't have to be Cricut or Provocraft brand.  All of the ones below were made using painted contact paper.

One day I was looking around on the Hobby Lobby website and came across some framed letters that are like the photo above.  It inspired me to make my own vinyl wall art/quote....spelling "Dream".  Below is the photo of my finished vinyl wall art/quote. What do you think?

This one I made using photoshop, scissors and contact paper.

Here are some more vinyl wall quotes I've done:

This one is in my little boys room that I made using the Cricut Create die cut machine.

This one is in my living room and I made this one using the Cricut.

You can make your own vinyl wall quotes/art.  There are two different ways I've made them but instead of purchasing special vinyl, I just used spray painted contact paper to make all of these. Contact paper doesn't have to be just for lining shelves :)  Here are links to both ways:

DIY Paper Rose Wreath

If you don't mind DIY projects... You can make this pretty paper rose wreath. It's inexpensive to make yet very, very pretty! You can even use paper you were saving to recycle or pages out of a large book that you don't want. Just click on the tutorial and then come back and read the finishing instructions:

Once you've made several roses, cut a big heart out of cardboard (the size you prefer) and then glue the roses all around the heart shape starting on the outside working in.  After you have the heart covered with roses, cut out  some ribbon and glue it to the back of the heart shape.  Then tie a bow and hang it up!

DIY Plate Hangers

 Photo belongs to Meet Virginia

Decorative plate arrangements on the walls are just beautiful but you want to be sure they are anchored to the wall correctly. Plate hangers are not expensive but when you have to have more than a few it can add up. I thought I would share this DIY Plate Hanger Tutorial I found at Meet Virginia on how to make your own plate hangers.

Decorating with Plates

Using dinner plates, salad plates and saucers to decorate your walls can yield fabulous results. More and more, people are using dinner plates to decorate their walls.  I found this at LuLu's.  I think this is amazing!! Plates are no longer just for eating dinner on.. You could find a ton of pretty and interesting plates at any thrift store.  Using plates as wall decor is popular these days and a group of plates on a wall really makes a statement in a room.  I think it's a fantastic way to re-purpose plates.  For tons more ideas go to:

I bet you enjoy this!

Also, if you are interested here is a DIY Invisible Plate Hanger tutorial. These hangers will hang plates without showing any hardware or possibly damaging the plate like the old school wire plate hangers.
